~Mini-Roman 2D Opener

An opening bid of 2D shows about 11-16 HCP and an undisclosed three-suited hand. A response of 2NT is constructive and requests that opener bid the short suit, thus pin-pointing the three suits held. Minimum suit responses by responder to 2D are natural and non-forcing, but opener must make the cheapest available rebid if responder has bid his short suit. Jump bids are invitational.

Defense to Three-Suited Openings:
~Double shows at least 15 HCP and suggests a balanced hand with good defensive prospects; hence, any further doubles are for penalty.
~Suits bids are natural and show GOOD suits.
~2NT is natural and invitational to 3NT. This implies an offensive hand.
