Brozel is a convention for competing against an opponent’s 1NT opening bid. The bids are
~Double shows a one-suited hand. Partner can pass to defend or else bids 2C and overcaller can pass with a long club suit.
~2C shows clubs and hearts
~2D shows diamonds and hearts
~2H shows hearts and spades
~2S shows spades and a minor suit. Partner bids 2NT to ask for the minor suit.
~2NT shows clubs and diamonds
3C, 3D, 3H, or 3S shows a three-suited hand with shortness in the suit bid. Alternately, the id may be played as natural.
Astro is a convention for competing against an opponent’s 1NT opening bid. The bids are
~2C shows at least 5-4 shape with hearts plus one of the minor suits. Point Count requirements are about 9-14 HCP but could be less with more extreme shape and should be adjusted for vulnerability.
~2D shows at least 5-4 shape with spades plus one of the minor suits. The point count is the same as with a id of 2C.
Partner could bid 2NT to ask about the minor suit.
