Bidding Commentary: North opens 1NT with this balanced hand of 17 HCP. South has 11 HCP and no significant distribution–no 4-card or 5-card major–and bids 3NT.
Defensive Commentary: East makes the standard lead of the diamond T.
Playing Commentary: You count your winners and note 3 spades, 1 heart, 1 diamond, and four clubs once the club A is driven out. So, do not finesse the diamond; rise with the A. If you finesse and lose, West might switch to a heart; you do not want a heart lead by West until you have the clubs set up. Note that you have all side suits stopped when you lose the club A.
